Patek Philippe released an array of new watches for 2017 at the Baselworld event held in Basel, Switzerland. The prestigious Swiss manufacture this year has re-designed and re-worked original models to give a modern twist on original traditional models. Patek Philippe enriches its regular collection with a broad selection of debuts with a new perpetual calendar watch, a model that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Aquanaut and revisited classics that are sure to delight both connoisseurs and collectors alike.
Patek Philippe Advanced Research Aquanaut Travel Time 5650G
Patek Philippe Advanced Research opens up a further chapter with the launch of two important innovations in the field of horological design. One of them is the new Spiromax balance spring made of Silinvar; apart from the patented terminal curve (Patek Philippe boss at the outer end), its geometry now also features an inner boss near the integrated collet.
The second complication is a flexible mechanism crafted from conventional horological steel that is used to set the second time zone in time-zone watches. To welcome these innovations, the manufacture is launching the sporty and elegant Aquanaut Travel Time 5650G in a limited edition of 500 watches, the first ones to be endowed with both of the avant-garde developments.
Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5168G
2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the Aquanaut model, and it is only fitting that the Swiss manufacture release a sporty yet dynamic and elegant version of the Aquanaut line, originally released in Basel 1997. The Aquanaut 5168G is 42mm in width and finished in 18K white gold – the first Aquanaut to be made in white gold and the largest model to date. The watch is nicknamed the ‘Jumbo’ because of its large nature.
The 18K white gold case accommodates the self-winding caliber 324 S C movement. The movement itself define all the quality hallmarks that appeal to those fans of classic mechanical horology; striking a perfect balance between traditional haute horlogerie and innovative high-end technology. With its heavy central rotor in 21K gold, it extracts and stores energy from every movement of the wrist and features an accuracy rate of -3 /+2 seconds per day as specified by the directives of the Patek Philippe seal.
Patek Philippe 5320G Perpetual Calendar
The new Patek Philippe 5320G is a new perpetual calendar for the wrist and has literally been crafted for eternity. It automatically indicates months with 28, 30, and 31 days and every four years also recognizing the 29th February as a leap day. As it stands out with a timeless sleek design, affording a glimpse into the past, present and the future at the same time.
The modern updated movement is cased by an immaculate 18K white gold case, crafted entirely in-house, paired with the stunning cream lacquered dial, reflected a vintage style teamed with a the latest haute technology. It certain is a watch that will only be on the radar of those collectors who cherish the subtle intricacies of Patek Philippe.
Patek Philippe 5960A & 5960G
Patek Philippe also took the opportunity to update and release more variations on a classic watch which certainly took many watch collectors and fans of the Swiss manufacture by surprise. We all know and love the original stainless steel and white dial 5960A, but Patek Philippe has officially released a black dial variations, giving more of a choice to collectors.
The Swiss manufacture also released a white gold 5980 variation, complete with a 18K white gold case (40mm in diameter), with a blue varnished dial and gold applied hour markers. The watch is finished with a calf leather vintage brown strap, giving a somewhat elegant look and feel to what will be no doubt a successful model.
