TAG HEUER ANNOUNCES NEW BRAND AMBASSADOR

An official announcement by TAG Heuer on Monday saw the Swiss watch company introduce New Zealand Rugby legend Dan Carter to the ranks as an official brand ambassador. The unveiling took place on the roof of the Tour Montparnasse in Paris, and was attended by the New Zealand ambassador to France, James Kember, and a group of children who competed in a TAG Heuer Rugby Challenge with Dan Carter in aid of the Theodora Foundation.

Dan Carter is widely considered as a true living legend of the sport, and has received his third World Rugby Player of the Year in 2015. The prestigious player has also been crowned the world’s best player three times by World Rugby. Dan Carter has been world champion in 2011 and 2015, and is widely considered the best fly-half in the history of the All-Blacks. He now plays for Racing 92 in France’s Top 14.

The press conference was held at the top of the Tour Montparnasse, opposite of the Eiffel Tower, in the presence of Mathieu Selzer, General Manager of TAG Heuer France, Marc Maury, a former rugby player and Six Nations commentator and James Kember, the New Zealand ambassador to France.

To honour Dan’s New Zealand heritage, the guests of the event were welcomed with a Haka performance by a group of children, who then challenged him “not to crack under pressure.”

A TAG Heuer Rugby Challenge on a giant target in the shape of a Carrera Heuer 01 chronograph enabled them to rack up points earning a total of 10,000 EUR, all of which went to the Theodora Foundation, an organisation that helps hospitalised children and children with autism in specialist centres by organising visits from professional entertainers.
