Richard Mille 50-03 McLaren-Honda

This years Salon International De La Haute Horologerie (SIHH) is now concluded, and was a true spectacle for some special releases by some the best Swiss watch manufactures the world over. Despite having a giant list of favourites from the event, here are five top favourites from the likes of Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille.

Richard Mille RM 50-03 McLaren

Richard Mille unveiled the new RM 50-03 timepiece in collaboration with McLaren-Honda F1 racing team at the event, and the piece marks a continuation of the already successful partnership. The RM 50-03 Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph Ultralight McLaren F1 just weighs 40 grams including the strap, making this watch the lightest chronograph and tourbillon piece ever made.

The watch is also made of a ground-breaking combination of titanium, carbon-fibre and Graph TPT – a by product of Carbon TPT and Graphene. These materials make the watch ultra-lightweight and 200 times more durable than steel. The timepiece also features a torque-limiting crown that prevents damage from over-winding. The watch is limited 75 pieces worldwide and is accompanied with a 1:5 scale model of the 2017 McLaren-Honda car that will be used in the 2017 F1 championship. The estimated price for this piece is £1,000,000.

 

Audemars Piguet 41mm Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Black Ceramic

Audemars Piguet took the opportunity to release the brand new 41mm Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in black ceramic. The watch proves to be a powerful combination of modern aesthetics and prestigious traditional complication. The new model sports a matte black brushed ceramic case, alongside a ceramic bracelet to match. The case is said to have required 600 hours of research to develop and manufacture, but is virtually impossible to scratch and is resistant to age. The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in matte black brushed ceramic will launch later this year for a retail price of $85,000.

Cartier Drive De Cartier Extra-Flat

Cartier also made a huge statement at the event by releasing additional models to the Drive de Cartier series. One particular model that stood out was the Extra-Flat watch that measures in at 6.6mm in thickness and is almost 40% thinner than it’s 2016 counterparts. The case diameter measures at 39mm and is finished with a sun ray satin-finished dial, sapphire crown, blued steel sword hands and sapphire crystal glass. The watch comes in white and pink gold and is limited to 200 pieces worldwide. They are priced at $16,700 and $15,600 respectively.

Panerai 47mm Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo

Panerai also released a number of watches, including the 47mm Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo. The watch renews Panerai’s tradition of creating iconic underwater watches with distinctive characteristics, with excellent technical features and a strong historical inspiration. The bronze case is an alloy of copper and tin making the watch excellent for deep sea diving and structurally strong for day-to-day use.

Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo 47mm

The Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo (PAM00671) runs off of the P.9010 calibre, developed and manufactured by Panerai in Neuchâtel and powers the central hour and minute hands, a small seconds sub dial at 9 o’clock and the date display at 3 o’clock. The watch has a power reserve of three days and is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 metres). The watch is completed by a brown leather strap with sewing of a nautical character and a titanium buckle. The piece is limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.

 

Ulysse Nardin Marine Regatta 1553-155-3/43

The new Ulysse Nardin Marine Regatta (1553-155-3) models were a welcomed addition to an already popular collection. The watches are 44mm in stainless steel and finished with either a blue/yellow dial or a white/yellow dial satin finished. The sporty watches are complete with a rubber and titanium strap and a new screw-down security crown, which prevents the damage caused by over-winding.

Ulysse Nardin Marine Regatta

Both models of the Marine Regatta are equipped with the Caliber. UN-155, a self -winding mechanical movement which powers the hour and minute hands, a smaller seconds sub dial, a date indicator and a marine chronograph function. The caliber movement consists of 72 jewels and is water resistant to 100 meters. The release comes as a tribute to its partnership with Artemis Racing for the 35th America’s cup and has created both models as a limited edition of 35 timepieces.
