HYT H0 Collection

Innovative watch company HYT have released a new collection of avant-garde watches that are instantly recognisable by their unusual time display – using liquid filled tubes to tell the time. The new H0 collection, featuring the HYT H0 Silver, H0 Orange, and H0 Black are based on a new-style minimalistic look which is said to take inspiration from water droplets, with a case design they call a “pebble” style. This means that HYT foregoes a bezel and case edge altogether, opting for a crystal that wraps around the side of this very large watch.

HYT H0 Collection

There’s no argument that HYT are employing a new-age category of watchmaking that has yet to be seen in the watch industry, and it almost seems that you have to love chemistry as well as horology to truly understand and love this watch. HYT’s manual winding movement utilises two flexible alloy reserves, or bellows, each filled with liquid. One bellow is filled with coloured liquid, whilst the other is filled with clear liquid, which is both separated through emulsion. A mechanical piston within the movement compresses the active bellow (the coloured liquid), whilst also depressing the clear liquid. In effect, the watch features a very specific and meticulous battle in which as the hours pass, the coloured liquid indicates the time at the contrast of the clear liquid.

The HYT H0 collection is a much welcomed addition to the unusual watch brand, yet this release feels like the finished article. The watch is employs a fine balance between aesthetic looks and innovative movement, with emphasis on the future of watchmaking. HYT released the H2 in 2013, followed by the H3, H4, and the fabled HYT Skull in 2015, of which lead singer of Guns N Roses, Axl Rose, is an owner.

H0 Black Mosaic

The HYT H0 collection will be available in three different combinations. First is a brushed titanium case example with a black dial and orange indicators, displaying a new colour for the watch manufacture. The second example also features a brushed titanium case with a silver dial and blue coloured indicators – giving the very fitting nickname “Snowball”. The third example features a black DLC-coated titanium case with a black dial and green indicators, a colour scheme that is immediately recognisable to fans as it is a colour scheme employed by previous HYT.

The minutes of the watch is displayed via a subsidiary dial at 12 o’clock and seconds subsidiary dial at 10 o’clock.

Each timepiece will feature an exclusive HYT Calibre beating at 28,800 VpH with 35 jewels and Côtes de Geneva-decorated bridges visible through the sapphire caseback. The collection of H0 watches all consist of a domed sapphire crystal, rubber strap, and 30m water resistant case.
