Today, we have sent one of Time Journals writers into Central London to attend the final major watch auction of 2017, the Bonhams ‘Fine Watches And Wristwatches’ Auction. Our writer will report to us with LIVE updates from the auction room, allowing us to bring you information on how each of the ‘top five timepieces to watch’ performed FIRST! The following list of the ‘top five timepieces to watch’ this afternoon has been chosen by the watch experts at Bonhams.

On Monday night fashion royalty, models and creative designers all gathered together at London’s iconic venue, the Royal Albert Hall, to celebrate the ‘Fashion Awards’, an award ceremony held annually to honour and commemorate some of the industry’s finest achievements over the past year.

One winner of the night was the beautiful British model, Adwoa Aboah, who stunned the world with her striking contemporary look on the front cover of this months British Vogue issue. On the night, Aboah proved she deserved the ‘Model of the Year’ Award by wearing a truly mesmerizing Halpern dress embellished with thousands of Swarovski crystals. It seems sequins and jewels and all things that sparkle are this year’s fashion craze, and the chic frocks weren’t the only features dazzling the red carpet on monday.

As one of the world’s most vibrant cities, London is a thriving and competitive hub for up-and-coming restaurants and bars. If you have a particular menu or atmosphere in mind, you’ll most certainly find a restaurant to suit your taste and personality in the city that is home to both Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.

Last weekend Time Journal decided to dine out at one of the West End’s more swanky restaurants, and have whipped up a quick verdict of our own to help you when choosing where to wine and dine in London this winter. We didn’t quite know what we were expecting, having read some of the reviews online, however we were pleasantly surprised. Time Journal is frequently on the move visiting some of the world’s finest cities like Morocco, Dubai, Miami and New York. So, it’s safe to say we have tried and tested our fair share of global cuisines, each one boasting an array of spices and seasoning that make your tastebuds dance!

On Tuesday evening, Time Journal attended the exciting launch of Grand Auto, the up and coming London motor show, which will make its highly anticipated debut at the Olympia London next July.

Let’s get the more important details out the way before enticing you with specifics of the show shall we? Grand Auto is one of the many brilliant and exciting motor shows organised by Brand Events, a company that has been putting the craving desire for live action first since 1999. Chris Hughes, the CEO of Brand Events has been successfully setting up and running a variety of shows for the public since the early noughties.

Some of the most popular include MPH Show (what later became known as Top Gear Live!), The London Classic Car Show and Car Fest, the second largest motor show in Britain. Brand Events’ successful past endeavors speak for themselves, and so without even knowing the details of Grand Auto, already we can tell the show is going to be something special.

Earlier this month, a number of autumn watch auctions took place in the luxury watch manufacturing capital of Switzerland, and this week, it’s Hong Kong’s turn to host Phillips’ ‘Hong Kong: FIVE’ watch auction, and Christie’s ‘Important Watches’ auction. Tomorrow (28^th November), Phillips Auctioneers will be attempting to break some more records by auctioning off some beautiful and rare timepieces from the likes of Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and of course the luxury watch brand that frequently achieves the highest realised prices at auction, Patek Philippe.

As I write this post, Christie’s is overseeing the sale of some truly exquisite and rare timepieces, which I’m sure every watch collector would dream of owning. As usual, I would love nothing more than to sit here and write about every single wristwatch that is beautifully portrayed in the auction catalogues. However, in order to save precious time, I have selected some of Time Journal’s favourite timepieces from each auction catalogue to discuss in further detail. Since Christie’s ‘Important Watches’ auction is happening as I type, I will be sure to include all realised prices.

This year, Audemars Piguet is celebrating the 20^th anniversary of the very first Royal Oak Chronograph wristwatch, which was introduced in 1997. In honor of the significant occasion, Audemars Piguet has released five new wristwatch designs, including a unique Millenary collection, a striking non-chronograph divers watch and a beautiful, frosted selection of Royal Oaks. However, next year will also be another exciting year for the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, because 2018 marks 25 years of the Royal Oak Offshore, which launched in 1993.

Next month, the advent calendar countdown to Christmas will commence, and the last minute Christmas shopping rush will shortly follow. Since December is such an expensive month (our wallets and purses certainly feel the pain come New Years), now is the time to jump the gun and grab some deluxe goods at rock bottom prices. Although Black Friday isn’t officially until 24th November, a number of sample sales and stock clearance sales are taking place this week across London, and you’d be a fool not to attend!

Since Saturday 12th November the world’s current leading male tennis players have been battling it out at London’s 02 Arena in a bid to win the ATP title, and a substantial cash prize. Throughout the year the top ranking players have competed to gain Emirates ATP Rankings points; those top 8 single players who finished the season with the most points, gained an automatic one-way ticket to the Nitto ATP Finals. Geneva was extremely eventful last weekend having accommodated a number of highly prestigious watch auctions. Phillips Auctioneers oversaw the ‘Geneva Watch Auction: SIX’, Sotheby managed the ‘Important Watches’ auction; Antiquorum held their fourth auction of the year, and Christie’s supervised the biannual ‘Only Watch’ charity auction. It is therefore safe to say that over the weekend, there was an abundance of rare and attractive timepieces up for grabs in the world’s watch capital. However, it was Christie’s ‘Only Watch’ auction and its incredibly rare timepieces that attracted the world’s attention.

Only Watch is an extremely unique event to attend, not simply because it occurs only once every two years, but also because there is an array of the incredibly rare and one-of-a-kind timepieces up for sale. All of the participating watchmakers design and create an exceptional, unique wristwatch that is donated to the organisers, Association Monegasque Contre les Myopathies or AMM. The rare and luxury timepieces are then sold on to the highest bidder at auction, with all proceeds going towards funding the research of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

It’s always an exciting time when the gurus of the fashion world congregate together under one roof; the outfits are fascinatingly wonderful, and the event décor always seems to ooze as much style and grace as the guests, and this years CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund dinner was no exception.

The annual event, which celebrates the organisation’s support for future generations of American fashion, went off without a hitch, and those who attended looked as if they had just paraded off the runway themselves. Guests included the Queen of Vogue, Anna Wintour, renowned designer Diane von Furstenberg, and an ensemble of famous models, designers and musicians.

The CFDA, or Council of Fashion Designers of America Inc., is a not-for-profit trade organisation that was founded in 1962. In 2003, the council started an annual competition for promising American fashion designers to showcase their designs to be in with a chance of winning a prize of $400,000 and expert industry mentoring.

Since its conception, the competition has granted over $5.9 million to over 35 design companies, including many stylists we know and love today like Alexander Wang and Altuzarra. Earlier on in the year, the Selection Committee met with all the finalists to review their current collections, conduct in-depth interviews and inspect their design studios. This years finalists were:
